Flash Back Friday: Old Grannies

Halloween? No. A dress up party? No. A play? No.

In fact is is none of the above.
My friend Megan:

I had just dyed her hair, and she was modeling for me.
For a real good laugh, take a look at her senior pictures gone wrong.
It is sure to get you rolling.

Megan had had a crush on this boy Brett B.

for a really long time.

For months she told us how talented he was, how handsome, smart and funny he was. He finally had asked her out on a date. Lindsay, Christine and I were dying to tag along to see how it would go. She refused to let us go, naturally. Without her knowledge,
we came up with the bright idea to dress up as old women so nobody, including Megan and Brett, would know it was us. That way, we could see how the date went. We carefully chose our outfits, I think we did a pretty good job!

The best part of the story is that we were stupid enough to think that people would actually believe we were old women. We also didn't think Megan would recognize us. They went to a restaurant, and we followed with binoculars in tow. Once they were seated, we made our entrance. Brett had his back to the door, Megan was facing the door. As soon as we walked it, Megan burst out laughing. She obviously saw us, but she covered well. She didn't want us ruining her date with Brett. We didn't stay long, there was nothing to see.

That is so hilarious! I'm a little sad that I wasn't there for the shenanigans. Was this before or after the skip day adventure to Galveston we took with Brett? I was recently looking at those pics and couldn't remember who he was. All I could remember was Megan's complete fascination with him. :)

That picture of Brett is actually from the skip day to Galveston. I can't remember if it was before or after that. Either way, it was about the time she was obsessed with him. I'm going to have to post the Galveston pixs for a "flash back friday", but the very best skip day was the time we went downtown with Chris and Cathe, do you remember that? We saw Sister Simmons walking down the street, the truck broke down in front of my dad's office, some guy named Omar asked me out on a date, and so much more.

I LOVE this story! I remember you telling it to me when I wanted you to sneak and meet Robbie in the institute building. Good times, I wish I would have grown up with you you are so dang hilarious!

Marisa!! That is a fabulous flash-back;) Part of me is still convinced that if Christine and I had great wigs like yours, we could have pulled off the whole thing!! Megan has the BEST crushing-on-boys stories. She should totally write a book... One of my favorites was when we made and delivered cookies to one of the boys that she liked - and the plate that she gave them to him on was OVERFLOWING with chocolate chip goodness.

Thanks for refreshing my memory on this one!

Yes, megan needs to crack open that diary of hers and share those stories.

Lins, I can imagine you in 50 years looking just like that. Still so cute and cool.

Wow, you guys are bringing back some memories...That skip day to downtown Houston was classic. We had to push my truck down the middle of the street in the middle of downtown to jump start it; I think I have a picture of sweet Omar. I'm gonna have to break out my old pics and start posting them. Oh wait, there's that one picture of Marisa's swimsuit in my car :)

This is too funny! I did a very similar thing in high school, but we used one of my friend's dad's coveralls from work and dressed like men in hats - didn't work so well either, but it sure was fun!

WAIT A SECOND! Did I really obsess over this guy? I have NO memories of liking him for that long. Actually right as I typed that I remembered that I didn't even know him but any time I heard that Wonderwall song by Oasis I would think of him and getting all starry eyed. Where did I meet him and did we hang out? Once we finally got together I think it lasted like one week before I was totally done. I am a fickle lady.

But still, I think it was only for a few months - tops. Nothing like Ben Baker obsession or Frank Huezo. BTW - lins - that's who we brought cookies to because Kristi told me the way to a boy's heart was through his stomach. Though I think it helps if he knows your name before you drop cookies off at his house...

Marisa...YOU'RE the one who's going to be a cool granny! Dressing up like a 'bag lady' is something I will have unfortunately worn out by the time I get to be 80:) But thanks for thinking so nicely of me!

I do remember Megan's Ben Baker obsession. He was a really nice guy - except wasn't he the one that always called Kristi, "Krusty"??

And I'm totally bummed that I didn't get to go on any skip days with you (Marisa), Chris, Kristi and Megan. Lake Houston was just toooo great of a divide:)
