Happy New Year

Maybe if I voice my New Year's Resolution, it will help me stick with it all year. Probably not, but one could hope.

My resolution is to stay more organized.

It isn't always cheap to stay organized, I have used over priced planners in the past, most of which I don't use. Either the system was too big, or it had too many features I didn't want. I have tried using the calendar on my computer, I have tried using just a plain notebook to write everything down. None of them work better than the year I used the $7.92 planner from Walmart (nicknamed Hellmart by one of my friends). And you just can't beat that price!

This trusty little planner has one page per day. It has time slots that I can block out and write what I need to be doing during that time period. Next to that it has space for me to write down my 'to do' lists, phone numbers, etc.

But of course, I didn't want a boring old Walmart planner. I called my amazingly talented mother, who can make anything look great with a sewing machine and some scraps of fabric.

I told her what I wanted to do, and she was actually able to give me directions over the phone of how to make this thing beautiful.

And here it is.

It just makes me want to pick it up and write things down in it. I'm not ashamed to carry it around. My favorite feature, (which I'm still so amazed that I was able to do it, and that my mom could explain it over the phone) is that it is lined with coordinating fabric.

What is your New Year's Resolution????

Now that is cool! Way to dress up a boring planner. I bought a new calendar and as I'm transfering all of last years info, I'm finding that I don't like it very much. I may go to something like your planner. Mine could never be as cute though.

No better description than Hellmart.

My resolution (as you already know)is to read the scriptures with my boys on a more regular basis. So far, so good.

I also want to dejunk and that's what I did on Tuesday. I attacked my food storage room, organized it, and have started up a good food supply again.

Well, even if you don't meet your resolution of getting organized, at least your planner looks good!

My two main resolutions are to have more sincere prayers, and stop doing a bad habit in front of Dallin so he won't do it- it involves fingers and noses!

Jan and Kathy, I think you share your resolution with the rest of the nation, it is such a good one, but so difficult to stick to!

Amber, that is THE BEST resolution I have ever heard!

Love the planner. I will have to ask your mom how to do it...that and her awesome bread. That might interfere with my resolution to lose weight though. Oh well, I really like bread.

My resolution is to be half the woman you are! You make me sick! Just kidding - but I have to always keep myself from getting bummed after I read all that you are doing. You are a wild woman! Anyhow, I always hate sharing my new years resolutions for fear of jinxing them... but let's see...maybe one...not miss a day of scripture study in 2008.

I'm with you on being more organized. Mine is more around the house. I have been de-junking EVERYTHING!!

New year's resolution...
Follow the prophet-be a little kinder this year, and nicer, even in the throws of ugliness...
read scriptures with with Dan every day-even did it on the airplane, but we read it to ourselves at the same time on the airplane over!-it takes 24 hrs door to door to Russia-getting to the airport early-lay over time, etc.
great planner!
