It's like Christmas in August

My friend Nora, has "make ahead meal" group that she has put together. The last two months they have had an opening, and I was able to be a guest participant. Here's how it works, there are ten people in the group. Each person makes 10 of the same meal, freezes it, and then we all exchange. So you end up with 10 different meals, including the one you made. They are each portioned to feed 4-5 people and your total cost should come out somewhere around $75. Last month was wonderful, if I didn't feel like cooking (which is almost every day), I would just pull out one of the meals and follow the instructions. Everything was included, and all the hard work had already been done.

I was up until 2 am the night before the exchange finishing my meals. I don't know what I was thinking, but I thought it would be great idea to do fried rice and won tons. 400 won tons later, I was exhausted! One night of HE** for 10 nights of barely cooking, is worth it to me.

Awesome idea!! Sometimes just coming up with a meal idea is harder than actually cooking, so it makes sense that being able to throw something in the oven is a stress relief for you! Way to be the won-ton queen by the way!!

I've done a similar group activity - but with FHE packets instead. It was and is fun to be able to just pull out a folder and have everything already planned out.

Marisa, we should start a group like that. Even if it's every other month or something. I made 15 meals with my aunt and sister a month ago and I still have two meals left. It is so nice!
Does everyone do a different meal each month in her group or do they stick to the same thing?

I agree with Brandi! We should start one! I would be in for SURE! You all know how much cooking gets done around my house!

Brandi and Jan, I have been thinking about starting a group, since I am only a guest in the other one when they need someone to fill it. Brandi, everyone makes something different each month, so it is always a surprise.

This is such a great idea. I need to get one of these groups going out here in the sticks. Except wait...I don't know ANYONE!
