Banksy
I just found a controversial artist named Banksy. I'm very intrigued and a little nervous to admit to everyone that I think it is really cool. In high school I had friends that would tag/graffiti, one of my friends (Bizerk) was actually really well known in the graffiti world out in Houston. We would go to contests where there would be a bunch of different artist painting the sides of old buildings. For a wedding gift he painted Michael and I a huge mural, I left it at my parents house, because honestly, where was I going to hang a graffiti mural in a itty bitty apartment. My mom ended up using it as a doggie door, blocking the dog from getting on her living room carpet.
Anyways, now that I am a somewhat conservative mother of 3, I'm not fond of graffiti in my neighborhood, but I am still fascinated by graffiti and can appreciate the artistic aspect of it (if it is done well.)
What do you think of this artist?
His stuff gets pretty political as well.

I like it! Very creative. Graffiti really scared me while I was growing up, but I think the creative/beautiful stuff is really amazing, not that I would want them to do it to my property or anything though.... :)
i really like that. brett's graffiti name back in the day was vast & stork. i guess he couldn't decide. ..
meh - i'm not a huge fan of it. i mean - it's interesting, and he's very good, but i would rather see it on paper hanging in an art gallery than on the side of a building. . . that's just me though.
I would be ticked if it was on my house or Driveway. Graffiti is a crime committed by cowards who have no respect for other people.
i think it's kinda cool...
I like it - I think in a couple of examples it really added to the building, rather than vandalizing it. On my house - no I wouldn't like someone else to make a political statement on my home. But...on a building I leased commercial space in - I would not mind.
I love it. It reminds me of scherenschnitte. (I probably butchered the spelling) I would prefer to see that then an unimaginative tag. just me though.
